Middle School Camping Skills and Backpacking Camp
Would you like your middle schooler to participate in a week-long overnight camp that is affordable and in Durango? This is the camp for you. We are hosting a wonderful 3-night/4 day overnight camp aimed at building upon wildernes skills and teaching kids to spend time in the outdoors. It's also a lot of fun and a great bonding experience for kids this age. Here's what to do next:
1. Download and print out the Parent Information Sheet that answers most of your questions about the camp, including what to bring and what DNS will provide.
2. Download the Registration Form, fill it out and mail it in with your check or credit card number. 3. You will receive an email confirmation from us and we will contact you about transportation and logistics before camp starts.

August 12 - 16, 2013
Ages
Kids age 12-15
Numbers
Each Session will have a minumum of 6 kids and a maximum of 13 kids.
Staff
Camp will be run by female Program Coordinator, Klancy Nixon, and another male staff member. Backpacking staff are expererienced outdoor folks with excellent credentials and teaching skills, as well as Wilderness First Responder certified.
Transportation
We will have a van for the week, so parents can drop their kids off at Park Elementary. We will be using the Nature Center on Monday for teambuilding and leave no trace education, as well as preparng kids for their backpacking trip.
Time and Schedule
Aug 12 - Camp will be from 9:00-3:00 at the Nature Center. Parenst can drop off their kids at 8:30 at Park Elementary and pick them up at 3:30. Aug 13 - Parents will drop kids off at 9:00 with gear. Campers will shop for food with staff and repack packs before heading off on their grand adventure.
August 16 - Campers will return to town and be picked up. We will be in contact about pick-up time.
Cost
$300 per child
Gear
DNS will provide some gear and campers will provide others. Please see the camper information sheet for this breakdown. We will also be in touch the week before camp to go over what your camper will need.
