Summer Field Days for Area Childcare Providers
If you run a program in the summer for kids, we open up days for you to bring your group to the Nature Center for a day of games, hikes and activities led by a DNS instructor. Here's what you need to do
1. Look at the Seasonal Calendar and pick a date when Summer Camp is not in session.
2. Download the Registration Form, fill it out with your dates, and email it back.
3. Read and print out the confirmation form and invoice you will receive by email. We expect you to come prepared for the day.
Important Information for Field Day Program
We allow a minumum of 8 kids and a maximum of 25 kids for any field day.
Please provide 1 adult chaperone from your organization for every 8 kids.
You are responsible for getting your kids to the Nature Center and picking them up.
Field trips are 10:00 - 1:00. Please plan to have a picnic lunch in our pavilion around 12:00.
The cost is $5 per child, payable the day of the field trip. We prefer a check from the organization if you can swing it. If you cancel the field trip on the day of your program, we will invoice your organization for the number of kids signed up in order to cover staff costs. If you must cancel, please do so before your program date.
DNS will provide a qualified instructor to lead the kids on hikes, games, and river play. The Florida River is very low and safe. Your kids will probably get dirty!
Have your kids bring hiking shoes, a backpack, water shoes, bathing suit, towel, sunscreen, water bottle, hat, lunch, and snacks.
What Not to Bring
Make sure your kids do NOT bring weapons of any kind, cell phones, ipods, gameboys, or any other technology. We will not let them use these things at the Nature Center. Dogs are not allowed.
